Meet Michelle

Hi! I’m Michelle!

I am so glad you are here! Since you are checking out my website, I am assuming you are contemplating a lifestyle change. I want you to know that I have been in exactly the same place you are now.

I am a Registered Nurse. I have been since 1986–I know, I am a relic. I spent my nursing career in trauma and ICU. I love taking care of people who need my help!  I have been in education since 2003. I love teaching! Now, I am a Certified Personal Trainer and a Certified Health, Wellness and Nutrition Coach. I love helping people live the good life! Let me tell you how I got from nursing to coaching.

I was married to a great guy, had 4 kids, a great job and life was going really quite well. Then, in 2014, my husband was diagnosed with malignant melanoma. 13 months later, I was a widow. Life changing! I thought about my options. I was overweight, unhealthy and weak. I was the only parent my children had and I was going to now live alone. Things had to change. I had a strong sense that if I could take control of my body, I could take control of my life. My journey toward health and wellness began shortly after my husband passed away.

Michelle before 1   So, this is me before I made the decision to change my life. I couldn’t run a mile if a lion were chasing me! I was tired, I had chronic back pain, joint pain and overall, just felt lethargic and sluggish. I was overcome with grief that I didn’t know how to manage. I felt out of control. I wanted my life back!

I knew that getting my old life back was not in the cards, so it was time to make a new life for myself. I moved from Virginia to Utah, I joined a gym, I started eating less and I immersed myself in getting all the knowledge I needed to take control of my body. It was frustrating. I was intimidated by the gym, I didn’t have a clue what to eat and I wanted results now! As I slowly transformed my body, I realized I could help others on their journey. I wanted to flip to the other side of health care. I wanted to help prevent diseases and help those who suffered find health in nutrition and exercise. So, back to school I went.

I have  a Bachelor Degree in Nursing from Brigham Young University-Idaho.

My Personal Training certification is through the Athletics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA)

My Health and Wellness Coaching certification is through Wellcoaches in association with the American College of Sports Medicine

I did my nutrition certification through the International Nurse Coach Association. I am certified in the eating plans of the Institute for Functional Medicine.
